By now we’ve all seen the first episode of Rick Santorum’s carefully nuanced video depicting the future of this country if Obama is reelected. Let’s face it, no matter who is the Presidert of the United States for the next four years, some of the images in Santorum’s fiction may well become reality. Of course, the problem with the video is that it suggests Obama is the villain and not the straw-man that the Republicans insist on running against.
This bleak view of the future is a clear possibility for two reasons: first, Americans are too stupid to recognize lies and false promises; and second, there is even a chance that the near future will be controlled by the Republican conservatives. America is surely on the decline but do we need the Republicans to skim off the viable parts to enhance the greed of their rich friends as we go under?
America is all the people and the Republicans are for only a select few. George W. Bush may have revealed the true Republican strategy when he said, “You can fool some of the people all the time, and those are the ones you want to concentrate on.” Is the Republican party concentrating on you?
