Oh Dear. Hasn’t the Pope heard that the Republicans are running around positing that helping the poor is a bad thing to do. One Republican (Georgia Rep. Jack Kingston) feels that a hungry child should be required to sweep the cafeteria floor before eating so they learn that there is no such thing as a free lunch (tell that to the big oil companies). Of course, Bill O’Reilly, in his authoritarian “I am brilliant but you’re too stupid to understand” voice has announced that Jesus would be down for leaving the poor and helpless to fend for themselves. Yes, give to the rich and take from the poor, that was Jesus’ message to the world, right?
