Top 100 Lists

They seem to pop up all over the place. What self-respective periodical, bookstore, or publishers doesn’t want their name attached to a list of the top reading available, even if it is in danger of two faults:  first, one list is just like another, and second, some selections may be questionable and result in controversy.

What are your thoughts on this?
