It’s so gratifying and exciting to see the huge outpouring of love and respect that the United States Women’s soccer team received at the fantastic demonstration for teamwork and patriotism represented by the huge parade in New York City.
It was such a fantastic showing that no one needed to blame the weather or the tele-prompters for anything dumb or boring that might have occurred. It’s about time this country had something to celebrate.
They take soccer seriously in Brazil. Really seriously, according to reports that have recently been released. An amateur soccer game was held last weekend in a small city in northern Brazil when a player angered the referee by refusing to leave the field after being sent off. As happens when someone takes things maybe a little too seriously, the ref allegedly fatally stabbed the player. This, in turn, angered a giant group of people who take things too seriously. The angry mob retaliated, storming the field and killing the referee before cutting his head off. Only one person has been arrested in connection with the incident.
But the question is: thinking about those lurid stories of aboriginal America … did they save the head for the lacrosse team?
